Stack Infrastructure - Hillsboro, OR
Steel and Strut Equipment Racks
AZH provided seismic designs for steel and strut racks at Stack Infrastructure that supported a variety of electrical equipment such as transformers, panelboards, and more. The racks were custom designed in both suspended and free-standing configurations to allow for maximum accessibility and ease of installation on site due to limited space from existing utilities at the site. AZH also prioritized the use of steel, strut, and strut connectors already on site to reduce the cost of construction.
Analog Devices, Inc - Beaverton, OR
Equipment Anchorage
Over the last decade, we have supported ADI on numerous indoor and outdoor equipment anchorage solutions at their Beaverton campus. This equipment ranges from small pumps and scrubbers to very large units such as transformers and implanters. Depending on the equipment needs, AZH has designed custom seismic attachments to concrete, steel, raised floors, and more. When creating equipment anchorage designs, ease of installation and easy attachment and removal for future overhauls was a top priority for the contractor and owner.
Semiconductor Facility - Rio Rancho, NM
Raised Access Floor
AZH worked with Advanced Technology Group to provide raised access floor designs covering about 80,000 square feet at a semiconductor facility in New Mexico. The raised floor system used was Hae-Kwang and different designs included corner-lock and stringer systems with anchored or adhesive pedestal options. AZH worked with the contractor to identify unique heavy loading situations and rolling loads to properly layout the floor based on capacity needed.
City of Roses Recycling - Portland, OR
Equipment, Support Frames and Platforms
In conjunction with the processing lines manufacturer, AZH provided complete material handling frame designs and anchorage layouts of various recycling equipment including, such as sorting machines, conveyors, shredders, compactors, and separators at the City of Roses Recycling Center facility in Portland, OR.
We also engineered a catwalk platform to create a safe and stable elevated walkway that allows access to various areas of the facility for operation and maintenance. Additionally, AZH incorporated safety features into the catwalk platform design like handrails, toe boards, and non-slip surfaces, to prevent falls and ensure user safety.
Commercial Metals Company Melt Shop - Mesa, AZ
Access Floor and Equipment Supports
AZH worked with Advanced Technology Group to provide raised access floor designs and steel equipment supports at a steel mill for Commercial Metals Company. The design brought a few challenges including very heavy moving equipment requiring static and dynamic loading analysis. Additionally, special considerations for the high-heat environment were taken in the design to ensure adequate design and performance.
Data Center - Umatilla, OR
Ceiling Grids, Electrical Cable Trays and Busways
AZH provided seismic designs for suspended cable trays, busways, and ceiling grids for this 200,000 square-feet data center. Due to the varying weights and drop heights, we provided custom designs that best suited the locations where each item needed to be supported. Special considerations were given to accessibility and ease of installation due to the crowded utilities at the site and we worked directly with the contractor for the most cost-effective and efficient solutions. As with other installations, AZH prioritized the use of steel, strut, and strut connectors already on site to reduce the cost of construction.
CDI Equipment Curbs- All over USA
Analysis and Connections of Rooftop Curbs and Adapters
AZH provides engineering design and analysis (including FEA –Finite Element Analysis) for rooftop curbs and adapters under wind and seismic loads. These curbs are generally constructed of cold-formed steel but can also be standard steel or a plastic composite, and typically support equipment such as air handlers, heaters, and air-conditioning units. Some equipment also require vibration isolation springs to be built into the curbs. AZH uses state-of-the-art finite element software to generate stress calculations for these curbs as well as the connections from equipment to curb and curb to structure.
PCC Metro Center - Portland, OR
Custom Pipe Racks
AZH designed numerous steel custom pipe racks to support a variety of loadings at the site. Because of space restrictions at the installation location, the pipe racks had to be built off-site, fully loaded to capacity, and transported on a forklift. The design took into consideration all loading scenarios, including transport and dynamic loading. To provide an optimal design for this purpose and to keep the design as light as possible, the pipe racks were constructed as a light steel braced frame while the base was constructed using welded steel channels and tubes to maintain rigidity at the lifting points.
Bonneville Power Administration - Portland, OR
Seismic Bracing Upgrade of MEP and HVAC system
In coordination with International Seismic Appication Technology (ISAT), AZH spent over 24 months working on several phases of non-structural component seismic bracing for business critical systems at the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, OR. Initial phases of work began with designing supports and braces of HVAC ducts, electrical distribuition systems, and mechanical piping at the penthouse level. The upgrades then moved to the basement level where as-built 3D models of existing complex piping systems were created for design of lateral and vertical support system upgrades of similar equipment.
